Project LeaderProf. Valentin Nenov has a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Chemistry at Sofia University, with a specialization in Inorganic chemical technologies, Sofia, Bulgaria, 1974. Specialization at Helsinki Polytechnic on Waste Water Treatment (Heavy Metal Removal), Helsinki, Finland in September-December 1981. During the period 1986-1988 completed his PhD on the subject of the removal of mercury water, 1985 Monbusho (Japanese Ministry of education) grantholder.Research on anaerobic waste water treatment, Sendai (Tohoku University) and Morioka, (Iwate University), Japan. Lecturer at Technology of Water Department at University Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov since 1974. Expert in the area of “Water” licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) of Bulgaria since 1996. Participated and managed 43 EIA reports. Manager of two projects financed by “Neftochim”- Burgas on the condition of Oxidizing lakes as tertiary unit for the purification of water from the petrochemical plant. Coordinator of TEMPUS project (IB JEP 14034-99). Participant in four research projects funded by the EU. Participant in COST 511”Interaction of Microbial Systems with Industrial Materials”. BG subproject ”Study of the microbiological corrosion problems in recirculating cooling water systems of Petrochemical industry”, 1993-1995 Contract N ERB CIPA CT 93 – 0224 “Decontamination of Aqueous Waste Streams, 1994-1996 FP5 project. Also, contractor of FP6 project (2001-2004) METASEP, EVK1-CT-200-00083, и контрактор на INTREAT, INCO-CT-2003-509167 (2004-2007). Coordinator of two projects financed by the Swiss Scientific Foundation, Study of the performance of Bourgas Waste Water Treatment plant, 1992-93; Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in sequence batch reactor, 1995-1996. Guest lecturer at the University of Kyushu, Fukuoka, Japan in 2000. Dean of the Faculty of Inorganic Chemical Technologies at University Prof. Asen Zlatarov from 1995 to 2002 and deputy-rector in the area of research and development from 2003 to 2006. Has 5 registered patents and 92 publications of scientific articles and papers. Co-author of a textbook on water purification and three learning aids (working manuals); co-author of two reports on the purification of water in Bulgaria (prepared for the World Bank and the Japanese Association on Water Quality). Member of: International Water Association, London (former IAWQ); Bulgarian Association on Water Quality, Sofia; Board member of TECHWARE (TECHnology for WAter REsources), independent international non-profit association (Brussels); Representative of Bulgaria in the Program Committee for Environment Prоtection in the EU (fp7). Fluent in English and Russian, working knowledge of Japanese. |

ManagerAndreana Aleksanodrova Alekova-Laleva has a Master’s degree in Slavic Philology from Burgas Free University, with a double-major in Journalism. She has completed a postgraduate training in Preparation, Development and Management of Projects Financed by the EU at the Institute for Postgraduate Studies (IPS) at the University for National and World Economy – Sofia (UNWE). She is one of the founders of Burgas Free University students’ newspaper and the first editor of ElsianA – issued by the European Law Students Association /ELSA/. She has worked in the area of project development and management for the last couple of years and has successfully completed and implemented more than 5 projects during the last 3 years. Fluent in Czech and English. |

CoordinatorIvelina Ivanova Georgieva has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science form Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski” and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in translatology at Veliko Tarnovo University “St. Ciryl and Methodius”. She passed a training course in 2006 - Local Economic Development organized by “Local Government Reform Foundation” – Sofia and USAID. In 2007, she received a certificate for completing a postgraduate training in Preparation, Development and Management of Projects Financed by the EU at the Institute for Postgraduate Studies (IPS) at the University for National and World Economy – Sofia (UNWE). Fluent in English. Since the beginning of her career, she has worked on the development and management of projects and programs funded by the EU. She has worked as an expert in “Project management, European integration and international cooperation” department at the Municipal Administration – Sevlievo. Since November, 2007, she is the coordinator of the project “Establishment of Technology Transfer Office at University Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” - Burgas. |
